Pure EV just isn't viable in regional Australia - you basically have to go at least Hybrid. And as Toyota Says it can produce 6 plug in Hybrids for the same rare earth materials as 1 full EV. I was looking at plugin cars and came to the same conclusion- I would pay $10,000 extra for the plugin version.
The per mile costs would be cheaper. So after 100,000 miles I would have saved $10,000.
But lithium ion batteries have needed replacing in every device I have ever owned. So I would have increased future battery repair costs.
