“Disney had more or less trained audiences to expect big, hot Pixar content at home,” explained Brandon Katz, an entertainment industry strategist at Parrot Analytics. “Retraining the audience to re-embrace the theatrical experience and prioritize that…takes time.”
What a load of utter shit, are they actually going to try and make the argument that it's a tech related problem? They're acting as if it's somehow an issue to render things at 1080p and do sound quality for home systems that isn't cancer.
This was something that was heavily noted by people online generally by the way and I'm sure you guys noticed as well because you're all autists. Apparently these douchebags do their testing for audio among other things for surround sound systems. Game of thrones put out that notoriously shit episode with the giant fight sequence in pitch black and proceeded to blame the audience for it then it turned out the douches were testing the footage only on 8k screens and hadn't even bothered to check for 1080p.
It's going to get worse I swear, I remember being baffled at the sound quality for movies and I hadn't realised when I researched it the reason for the voices all being muted as fuck was because yet again the douchebags had only tested for fancy surround sound systems and didn't do their mixing properly for home theatres or headphones.
Isn't it funny how anime has none of these problems?
Nobody forced Disney to pull their movies from other services and start their own shit service, which then forced them to crank out garbage to try to make Disney+ worth the money. They could have licensed their movies and stuck to making good family movies. They chose to make gay shit and thought everyone would pay for it. Fuck Disney. Let it burn.
They would literally be still printing money if they had just offered their old catalogue. Disney could run forever on nostalgia alone; it's the new stuff that is tanking their brand.
The other interesting thing about sound quality is that it is the most often overlooked part of production. Most directors don't care about it and figure it can be fixed later, and the cinematography directors give absolute zero shit about placement of mics since they are only concerned with camera placement and the shot. So mics get placed further and further away from actors.
Then there is only so much that can be done in post to fix this and then the sound engineers after a certain point don't realize you can't hear it because they listened to it dozens of times already where they know what it is being said anyway.
This is why so many modern productions have terrible sound to the point where you need subtitles to actually know what the hell is being said.
I just find it baffling how quick game devs and as it turns out movie studios alike are resorting to gaslighting their own fanbases instead of fixing their obviously shoddy editing work. Mind you, I'm not complaining I keep spamming it everywhere anyone will pay attention but the more these layoffs happen to due to their own incompetence the better it will be for indie creators. Will admit that every time I see stories about these layoffs at big companies it puts me in a really good mood, I'm like the stock trader praying for a market crash.
