They were trying to claim veto power over what gets sent to the moon based on their butthurt superstitions. It's not exactly the same thing.
Sure it is. If rhey have complete control over what happens to the moon, how is it any different in function than ownership?

The Navajo barely exist, and almost nobody can speak Navajo for a reason. I don't think it's any big loss.
