Galatians 3 is important to reference here:

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

People grossly misapply this to advocate for open borders, but it still applies to followers of Christ.

I don't think you should take what anyone else says but it does behoove you to know what God said/says about things, I suggest espescially about love, which is the most difficult and yet most important. Edit: God's love and expectation of our love in light of that, for clarity
