I used to joke that I’m against all race swapping but will give a pass to Denzel since he is one of my favorite actors. I’m so sick of race/gender swapping at this point that him being one of my favorites won’t make me watch it. When Equalizer came out I was aware of the old show but that was before everything was a race or gender swap. Honestly I’d say have Denzel play Mansa Musa. I’d love an in depth mini series about his empire as well as his practice of slavery and land conquest. Would be nice to see an exploration of the cruelty/brutality of non-western slavery. Maybe could open up some eyes as well. Maybe
Yea, I know and if they did ever do a movie or show about Mansa Musa I’m sure they wouldn’t have anything about slavery (or somehow tie it to Europeans who weren’t even there at the time)
Mansa musa is made up or at least greatly exaggerated. Put it this way, his greatest accomplishment is the construction of the great mosque in timbuktu... look a this thing and say that the richest person to ever live was responsible...
I’ve heard he existed but everything else I’ve heard has been recent so for obvious reasons I’m very wary of modern day historians. My point was since they have rehashed to death western slavery it would be interesting if someone had the guts to show an African ruler who was big in the slave trade. Or the Ottoman Empire. Or the enslavement of whites.
Kaleb of Aksum would be a better choice, unfortunately the accomplishment which made him the most based black man to ever live is also the reason why Hollywood won't touch his story with a 40 ft pole.

Mamas musa would be interesting, but then they wouldn’t be intentionally blackwashing history, and that’s really all they want
