Refusing to take it seriously is the smartest move he could make, because everyone knows these indictments are bullshit. That mugshot instantly piled 10 points onto his poll numbers the moment it was released. Why wouldn't he take advantage if it?
That didn't stop them from indicting him, and it won't stop him from going to prison because some NYC or DC jury thinks Orange Man Bad.
Agreed, though I think it was more than the mugshot. And it was just the primary. I see no similar spike in the general.
This is downvoted not because it is false, but because it's what people don't want to hear.
However, I don't think he's not taking these ridiculous cases seriously. He has the best lawyers willing to work for the Bad Orange Man working for him, and spending a million a month on his own case as well as that of others.
Trolling won't win him the cases.
His best path to win in the courts and in the court of public opinion is to make the simple argument that the Democrats are weaponizing the law against him and that this is a grave injustice.
Joking around undermines the seriousness of the heinous act that Democrats are doing.
Increased poll numbers in the primary don't mean shit if the Democrats convict him in court or if enough of the American public votes against him in the general election.
Polls are meant to influence public opinion not measure it.
They are meaningless. Trump himself in 2016 called polls suppressive bullshit.
This time around he is shilling the polls because they have him up in the primary.
Selling mugshot NFTs is a very effective way of exposing the political nature of these prosecutions. What you seem to be advocating is for him to play the victim, and that is not a winning strategy. People don't want Trump to be a victim, and they don't want him to combat the establishment using their own rules and language the same way RINO candidates have done for decades. People supported Trump because he stood up in the face of that rhetoric and said, "fuck you. You're stupid. You're fat. You're ugly. You're crooked. You're short and you've got a tiny penis." And he did it in the least intellectualist language he could.
That is why people support him. That is what wins him votes. Engaging with the establishment on their terms instead of his own will only lose him support.
Remember he has to win the court cases and also win the general election.
Being an troll helps with his core base but he also needs independent voters as well to win the general election.
Trump doesn't need to play the victim. He needs to play the role of a serious politician who is unfairly being targeted by the Democrats.
Were Mandela or Gandhi playing the victim? No they called out being persecuted by their nation's ruling authorities and used it to push their cause.
Selling mugshot nfts may elicit cheers from the base but it won't help him win the court cases or convince indie voters to go for him.
I don't want Biden to win a second term and thus I want Trump to maximize his chances.
This NFT mugshot stunt absolutely harms Trump in the court cases and in the general election with indies.
Once again, that is the opposite of his winning formula. A "serious politician" is one who engages with the establishment within their predetermined frame of acceptable discourse. A "serious politician" is one who speaks the pseudo-intellectual managerial language of the elite and the political class because he's hoping for their approval. People are sick of "serious politicians." That is the reason Trump has been so successful.
Do you think selling these is somehow stopping his lawyers from working? Maybe you think the jury will see these and go ahead and vote guilty when they wouldn't have before? Maybe that judge who shit all over his rights will... shit all over his rights more?
