Biggest reason Terry is acceptable is it's a different fucking era. Bruce was literally elderly, yet never lost his touch, only his capacity for physical activity. They keep trying to have Miles replace Pete in his prime.
True and that's the point, the team behind Batman Beyond were told originally to have a Batman story but set in school (that was a major theme of that time remember X-men evolution).
They had respect for the character so rather than replace the one they had from Animated series, they fast forwarded it so he was no longer on his prime but became a mentor (ironically like Alfred was) and have a new character who wasn't perfect, needed to someone to learn from but had a good heart.
The problem with these recent replacement attempts us they DON'T respect the previous characters, a lot of times the replacement is more powerful, intelligent etc that it comes off as mocking the past if that makes sense.
That was NEVER hinted at any point, and only became a point YEARS after the show had ended, in an entirely different series. Seriously, "we injected a serum into your late father before you were born that modified his sperm to contain Bruce Wayne's DNA." Even I gotta say that's some fucked up unbelievable bullshit.
Not canon, as far as I'm concerned. Terry being genetically related to Bruce detracts from the idea that he was just some punk kid who had his own dead parent trauma that pushed him towards justice.
They are pushing Miles so hard that it's making it annoying despite being a decent character, just not the Peter Parker Spider-Man.
Think the ONLY character I accepted taking the title of the original character was Terry McGinnis.

This is nowhere near the same.

And they were respectful of Bruce Wayne and he did an important job from the bat cave
Plus, terry was his son. Unless peter parker was like 8 years old and banged miles morales mom when the dad was over seas fighting wars..

That's just the like news of Jewish doctor substituted the sperms with his own at the fertilization clinic! But sci-fi!
