I hate this rhetorical style. Not even because it's whiny, but because it makes no fucking sense. Presumably - theoretically - someone runs for president because they want to make the country better. Not being allowed to critique points of failure without being called anti-American or whatever is beyond stupid. California was a great state, LA was a great American city. But they're both shadows of their former selves, and that's completely on topic to bring up when you're trying to become the president.
