For those who don't know, the Dickens fair is a decently famous Christmas Fair that takes place in the San Francisco Cow Palace every year. being themed around the works of Charles Dickens, the fair is essentially a Renaissance faire that takes place in Victorian London instead of the renaissance period.
When I heard the words "San Francisco Christmas Fair", I was bracing myself for the ultimate cringe and a deluge of woke bullshit. I'm happy to report that the Dickens fair was very true to its theme, and I really could not spot any woke bullshits coming out of the participants or shows that they put on. the sideshow attractions and musical performances were very period accurate, and the performers seemed very enthusiastic about the theme.
no strong independent black women upstaging and enlightening the ragged Londoners. No pride flags. No lecturing about the evils of European culture. the participant who played Father Christmas throughout the fair was white and looked the part.
it was very refreshing.
it's basically a humongous warehouse. once upon a time it was likely a building used to trade and auction livestock.
