She wasn't at all imo. She plays the role of a diplomats with Mario being her muscle. The only possibly girl boss moment in the movie is when she beats him at the obstacle course. And in my view they implied that everyone in the mushroom kingdom could do it, not that Peach was super awesome. Mario being a foreigner is his biggest obstacle.
And in the end, the 11th hour savior isn't Peach OR Mario, it's Luigi being willing to jump into the fire to help his brother without even knowing what's going on.
Brotherhood is the hero of the movie. It didn't read as woke to.me at all really.
My bet: Link is going to be a total wimp who has to be saved by a black stronk Zelda who don't need no man.
They already pretty much did that with the Mario movie so why not Link right? And then they made the Peach games boxart look like the movie
To play devil’s advocate: Mario and Luigi aren’t from the Mushroom Kingdom in the movie, they got truck isekai’d into it.
Idk how bad of a feminist/stronk woman Peach actually is in the movie, but that is what happened

I would almost be willing to bet that's exactly what "Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production" means.
I'm sure the Japanese suits have to deal with wrangling their IPs away from going too woke at the behest of the NOA division.
Mario probably would have been an even worse movie if Nintendo hadn't been hands-on in the production.
