This might be a good thing, and let me explain why.
One, it shows that they're clearly utterly fucking desperate for competent soldiers, and they realized all the diversity hires have basically fucked them over should they get into an actual shooting war.
Two, seventy fucking percent of military recruits have a family member in the armed forces
There's alot of reasons why people don't want to join the military, but I'd be a good fucking chunk of it basically come down to all those family members convincing the younger generation otherwise.
The military has basically fucked that sheep, and it's going to take along, long while until they're no longer known as the sheep-fuckers amoung those who'd be doing the serious work during serious times.
Or maybe I'm just huffing copium, I dunno.
(As an aside, my boss is a navy vet and he fucking loathes Biden. I'm pretty spicy at times, and he's normally really chill, but even he made me step back and raise an eyebrow or two when the topic of Biden came up. Take that for what it's worth.)
I haven't met a "proud" Vet in a long time who isn't a fucking great-grandparent by this point. All the more recent ones are coming back limping into the VA with crippling disabilities, or such an insane hate for the government it would get them banned off every channel if they let it out.
The prestige and honor is running out as all the old grandpa's who inspired the last few decades worth are dying out, and are being replaced by a walking billboard for how awful an idea it is.
I've met a few under 40. One served in the Navy and basically holds the opinion that US agencies can totally be trusted to at least have the country's long-term survival as its priority. He's always been a bit of a normie twerp though. Tried "calling me out" on me not being on board with respecting trannies once.
Did he have fond memories of shore leave in Thailand?
Probably more the Philippines.
