I honestly feel something is wrong with you if you have to see yourself in everything.
It’s just the sociopathic narcissism that’s tearing through western society, I’m not sure if social media created it or just gave it the avenue to spread like a plague, but it’s killing off society and the centuries of intellectualism that brought us here.
And then combine that with hiring writers who actively hate the IP they are writing for
I think that is part of the “English professor’s dilemma” where these wannabe writers who know they could never create anything of the same caliber of the good writing will hate/ critique/ subvert good works to self validate their own worth as a writer. The sad thing is this used to be limited to the professors/ teachers/ low tier writers but since diversity hiring amplified they are now able to destroy at whim.
And the praise that they get is beyond absurd. Like that idiotic casting director for the Witcher that changed Yennifer’s race because she wanted a women of color to be seen as beautiful or some crap. If you truly feel that way then by all means, write your own story or research Native American,Asian, or African folklore/mythology and create your own fantasy. Hardly respectable to take someone else’s work and turn it to crap
You...you get me. I'm literally crying right now.

Ha!
Yeah because thinking is overrated (works even better if one's a narcissist). Why should you think about what the character represents/stands for and deduce that it's something you might want to emulate (or avoid)? You just look at skin (you can also choose your own genitals!!!) and say "hey, that's, like, you know, me!1!"
It's probably why we might want to ensure that we have a good enough memory (and a large collection of art worth remembering).
Exactly
There is. It's called narcissism.
If that makes you cry then definitely have some serious mental issues.
