Pride isn't a dirty word. This country ran on pride. You had people dueling over insults to themselves and their wives. Meanwhile you wouldn't die to stop your wife getting taken.

People are social. It's bigger than yourself. The guys at the Alamo would've probably lived if they surrendered, but they were victorious in death.
