Culture shock, sure, but the whole “Nordic model” is just a bit… Shit, honestly.
The whole country (that I have seen so far) feels like “Pleasantville”, but woke, and uber-modern, rather than 1950s Americana…
And the Turks. The fucking Turks here. Eugh…
Their rudeness seems more intentional than I would say it seems to be with more… “Native” Swedes.
Gonna be interesting learning to survive here. As a very “social” person, I… Certainly have some adjusting to do.
The strange mix of ultra-conformity and extreme cultural introvertedness is… A vibe. I’ll say that much.
Customer service? Ha…
Sweden is in a weird spot as had a far left leaning when it came to letting in migrants (though heard that's finally resulting in gains for more right leaning parties) but didn't fall for the pandemic measures.
At least you didn't move to France or Germany.
Politically..? Yeah. Though I think culturally I vibe with the French more than I do here…
I don’t fit this (introverted, antisocial, unhelpful, atomized) model of living/doing things. It’s just not me…
I’m not sure where I fit, though.
My ex tells me I should go to Slovenia (of all places) or Ireland, next, lol.
Ireland I vibe. Not sure about Slovenia though…
Regardless of place, I'd say you're better off in rural areas than cities reading your personality type.
There's definitely going to be cultures you gel to more but living in a smaller community, outdoors a lot and having people you can easily talk to compared to the more standoffish urban living seems like it suits you more.
What you describe just sounds like city life and honestly not too far removed how things are here in The Swamp.
Ireland is probably an even worse woke hellhole than Sweden.
The Swedish government absolutely would have loved to implement all of the same lockdown measures and vaccine passports as everywhere else, but their hands were tied. Sweden passed laws around 2010 restricting coercive public health measures after the Pandemrix scandal.
Laws in Europe don't mean anything. They can just pass another law...
The Pandemrix scandal was too recent and left too much of a mark on the Swedish public consciousness. As woke and cucked as most Swedes are, they would never have tolerated the government trying to force an experimental vaccine on them so soon after the last one permanently fucked up hundreds of kids.
Sweden was not having a lockdown way before any vaccine. Besides, you seem to vastly overestimate the amount of power that we (Europeans in general) have to resist government decrees. All there was, was quiet disobedience - a lot of people not wearing masks and stores/restaurants not demanding vaccine passports.
France is probably the least woke of European countries outside Poland and Hungary. However, it's also one of the most economically left of the European countries, with the Nordic countries being very business-friendly.
Fascinating how the 'Two Minutes of Hate' due to the Iraq War keeps paying dividends.
The didnt "fall" for it? It was painfully obvious ti anyone in Scandinavia thsr Sweden was the first country "to go". If they introduced lockdowns all the native Swedes would comply and all the invaders would rampage theough the streets in every major city. Hard to cover up Sweden just burning down in a month(;
