I think the simplest answer is that every institution is suffering from worse-than-advertised brain drain.
They are lazy because they never expect someone to check their bona fides. They either don't care to cover themselves or just assume you won't check.
It is reassuring, however, that pretty much everyone with two nurons to fire against each other is on the right now. Even Bill Maher sounds like me in 2016 these days, even though he still claims to be a liberal, and no one would accuse him of being a mental heavyweight (note: he isn't dumb, but he is fairly intelligent as far as talking heads go).
I think Tim Poole (who has his own problems) is correct in his assessment of Maher, as a boomer who still questions things and is interested in the truth, but is wrapped up in the old ways of acquiring information and isn't willing to get lost down any rabbit holes. Where Joe Rogan will have Jamie pull up random websites on the fly to find whatever he's asking about, Maher depends on research staff to look into a story he read about in the New York Times and give him the scoop. He won't see anything until it's been analyzed and approved for dissemination by corporate media.
And yet... he is asking the same questions I did before alienating most of my social circle to stump for Trump and vote for him.
I just really want to see him sit down with Dennis Prager to apologize for his "male menstruation" ridicule. Prager was right.
I think it's even simpler than that.
She is used to dealing with softball questions from mainstream "journalists" who absolutely would not ask that question of her both because they're on her team and because it's not something they'd think to ask, so it's genuinely not something she is prepared for.
We're 15 years into Ben Rhodes' "They literally know nothing" era. The days of Helen Thomas asking an awkward question (even occasionally when that person had a (D) behind their name) are long gone.
They did briefly have that based African reporter before Biden kicked him out.
It was a lot of us.
Though some of us became right-wing once we discovered that liberalism was just a sales pitch given by used car salesmen trying to sell us a jalopy, and better to be the salesman than the punter.
Wait, does this mean I need to update my handle? 🤔
TheKidsAreSpergy90sLibs doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
Well calling it "Alt Right" is a little 2016....
I think we go by "Dissident Right" nowadays.
