My guess is a smattering of ideological investors at the start, they use that money to inflate the perception of appeal (articles about how its the most amazing thing ever ever, bigot) but it's not sustainable for a service no one wants, then it goes under and is swiftly memory holed.

Next woke project comes out, rinse repeat because they're incapable of pattern recognition or honesty
