This is exactly the case. The world will beat the shit out of you - and the people listening for your woes aren't usually your friends. When the mask eventually comes off you find that you were surrounded by a hierarchy of vultures and that all of your compassionate projections were misplaced. It's the same fuckin' game.

Man's gotta be useful, for better or for worse. Repel them.

As we've seen for ourselves even those at the very top can get stabbed in the back at a moments notice and have their lives completely ripped from them and get told they're misogynists for hating being treated that way.

Sometimes "careful" isn't enough. Now, my analogue of "vulture", that was no coincidence - they are attracted to the smells of the dead and dying. Only things of their like enjoy a vulnerable man.

They surround themselves with losers because people who live with any actual certainty repel them or move on too fast for them to keep up. You pick yourself up out of the dirt, bat away the flies and the vultures, and keep moving. Let them eat someone else's corpse.

The people you want to meet in this life don't usually stop for a deadman anyhow. Never met anyone worth a damn while feeling sorry for myself, you don't always get to keep them either.

You become unattractive to vultures by never showing them vulnerability, and by merit of being their better. Those who know about that hidden dagger aren't likely to be stabbed so easily.

If men shared our feelings we'd be thrown in prison on bullshit charges.
