A middle of the road Marvel movie shouldn’t be one of the highest rated films of all time. Critics lost what little integrity they had left with that one.
It has a lot of bad worldbuilding and basically its background makes no sense, but in terms of itself its a fine enough action movie.
It would be horribly offensive to black people if they cared. We got the basketball and rapping in the first couple scenes, the hut tops and spears in the future like they are still tribal primitives, and the god awful "trial by combat" idea that totally works in the modern era.
Yea I was anticipating a better movie because he seemed pretty cool in Civil War. Plus I’ve been reading comics forever although I mostly read about Black Panther with the Avengers
Civil War was them trying to tepidly sell the character to a modern audience, so they brought their A game to make him awesome regardless of your views.
His movie itself was then used for their political selling once they knew they had people hooked hard.
I’d give the first black Panther a 7/10. My major annoyance was how they overhyped it and acted like it was the first movie to ever have black ppl

Agreed. I remember a critic got attacked for not liking it. I had no faith in critics at that point but this really ruined any faith I had

Critics forgot about Blade, or never saw it in the first place.
Wesley Snipes was right; income taxes are bullshit.
