Even that I feel like the implication was more that everybody in the mushroom kingdom could do that, and marios problem was that he was Italian.
The start of the movie showed Mario in a "realistic" platforming level (i.e. the NYC construction site), and while it's good for a normal human it's nowhere near good enough for the Mushroom Kingdom's wacky rules.
Or she is much more capable by being a normal shaped human next to his Danny Devito shape. With proper legs to maneuver with.
All of that assuming her "did it first time" line was honesty and not a joke as well.
