There's a whole bunch of those recent shots on Insta. They're so... Hideous and sad that I didn't want to look any more. I know "heroin chic" was a thing in the 90s, with a lot of the models dying as a result, but even then...
She looks fucking terrible.
Always sad to see someone destroy their body (and career, for that matter) like that.
I'd say the rock-lifestyle hits women way harder than men. I mean, take the 1000-cock-stare of your average single mum and then multiply it with drugs, alcohol, the toll of touring.
I went and looked her up, because I honestly had no idea who she even was. Still eh, she looks like a mid tier punk. Even her debut album picture doesn't look that great, and that was more than a decade ago. Granted my standards are high for reasons most people here are aware of.
That said the clear progression into degeneracy is abundantly clear, as you pointed out. She went full crackhead, and the tattoos sure aren't helping. But the worst is the hair. Feminine hair is worth so many "points", and lack thereof is devastating.
Haunted, I believe is the proper term. That's not just age, that's mileage. From what, couldn't say. But it's not like the music industry is any less corrupt and vile than Hollywood is.
So if we look into it, more chance of an abusive relationship. The entertainment industry is full of them an you definitely see a SUDDEN difference in some figures that looks like they experienced something traumatic (either seen or experienced something for a leg up in the industry) that is like a completely new person has taken their name.
Ironically, as the linked article points out, she was writing songs about abuse before (apparently) having actually experienced an abusive relationship. And then it sounds like she fell into one, or possible more than one, later on...
This is an article from before she really got famous, which just screams "depression" (and possible industry abuse, as you say):

Combine that with collaborating regularly with Eminem and Dre, and I would say that she... Probably fell in with some bad people, as you say. That and the drugs. But yeah, proximity to those two is almost certainly part of it, tbh...
There's an Australian singer, Montaigne (Jessica Cerro), who similarly completely changed her appearance, and name, and then got famous, shaved her head, went completely insane, and is now "queer and nonbinary"...
Australia's (failed) Eurovision entry from a couple of years back, no less.
I worked with a music industry exec who was indirectly involved in her (Cerro's) early career, once. It absolutely would not shock me if he contributed to chewing her up and spitting her out...
Even as a man going from normal haircut to a really short one or bald feels awesome. I bet for a women it does feel like superhero.
It's just a terrible look for women though.
Probably because with women it's saying "I could have a full head of lustrous hair but I choose not to" whereas with men it's more "well at least that looks better than a combover".
There's just something that happens to reasonably attractive women where they just decide to make themselves as ugly as possible for absolutely no reason.
She's kind of looking like a cenobite right now.
Ya know, you're not wrong...
Or various freaky species in Doctor Who, too...

Eh...
Not so much in these photos. But like, just a quick image search will show you what I mean.
Before the tatts. Before the blonde hair even (or just after). Back when she looked fucking normal...
Like, pre-2017 Skylar Grey is completely unrecognizable, trust me...
Which is the sad thing.

Fair enough.
I would also point out the eyes... Not just in the latest Instagram photos, but you can see, like, a progression there, as you say...
It genuinely almost looks like she has sold a part of her soul, or something..

Here, for example (earliest photo there, I reckon, from 2011): https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2363920/mediaviewer/rm1736882688/?ref_=nm_ov_ph

It doesn't even look like the same person. Like, at all. Eh...

Life imitating art, in a very sad way...

Srsly confused with skylar white for a.sec.
Here she says she feels "like a superhero" after shaving her head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0B1tjhgnJM
Kind of feels like Demi Lovato, but with even more... Heroin, I guess.
But man. Wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't make it past 40, at this rate.
She's already sold off her music catalogue to pay for a divorce, apparently. So yeah...
