What makes a movie in summer any different from a movie anywhere else? Nothing, other than they attached the name "blockbuster" to it to make it seem much larger and more special for....reasons.
Agreed. I am looking forward to Mission: Impossible because I have been a fan for a long time, and to Oppenheimer because I am a history nerd. But I am not "rooting" for them. Beyond the fact that it would be funny to watch M:I bulldoze over everyone again because Tom Cruise ego makes it so he demands the best movies as free from bullshit as possible.
Humans are social creatures and feel compelled to be part of a tribe.
Can't use family, religion, neighbors, friends, nation, or race (if you're a normal white non-freak) so what does one attach themselves to? Trivialities. Sports team. Summer movie.

I didnt say every was great. Just that his ego makes him want to.
To be fair, I think that was the last time Cruise leaned into woke content. If I recall, that movie didn't perform very well at the box office?
