I know it shouldn’t but it boggles my mind how with all the hand wringing in the west over slavery that ended long ago nobody holds African nations accountable for ongoing slavery or past slavery. In one of Sowell’s books he talked about how the British worked very hard to end slavery in Africa and some kings or tribal leaders said they will meet all their demands but they will keep their slaves
It's the part they REALLY want to avoid teaching in history classes. That the biggest empire that EVER existed that was white dominated at the height of their power, chose to use it to end slavery.
Really hard to call for reparations when the guys you want money off have statues dedicated to the forces that lost their lives stopping slavers.
I think that’s why they moved on to whining about colonialism. I remember I met an older Nigerian man and he was telling me about how before they stopped being a British territory they offered British citizenship and he took it. He said they weren’t perfect but to act like the British didn’t have any positive influence on Nigeria is ridiculous. Also didn’t have a high opinion of young people whining about colonialism
Ditto with the official story that Anglo-sphere spent blood and the concept of empire itself to end the holocoaster, but the those same Anglos need to carry eternal guilt for it having supposedly happening in the first place.
That's why despite all their whining about "black history" never being taught, they never even try to teach anything about Africa and instead try to steal Egypt's history.
Because the moment you do, its just slaves, slaves and more slaves. That Woman King movie was on track to be this huge black power thing, but it instead accidentally only got people talking about how much slavery Africa perpetuated on its own even despite their attempts to sanitize it out.
History books have been trying to assign the blame to slavery to America almost exclusively for decades, for alot of reasons.
Almost twenty million africans were taken out of Africa as slaves(but only 3 to 6 % of them went to North America.)
Try researching about slavery in Central and South America and you'll find almost nothing(despite lasting alot longer, starting in the 1600s). Talk about the Arabic slave trade, and maybe you'll find more.
There's also the awkward question of 'Well, where did the slaves go, then?' The answer being, they basically worked them all to death(or gelded them and then worked them to death), which leads to the other awkward question of 'Wait, why does North America still have slave descendants around, then?'
Well, because, guess what - while still slavery, Southern slave owners treated their slaves alot nicer than others. Let them breed, let them have families, grow and sell their own crops, allowed for manumission...
But we can't have that discussion, can we? Gotta sell that propaganda...

Exactly. I’ve joked that they need to have a mandatory “world history of slavery class” where they just watch some Sowell videos about it.
