Salina, N.Y. -- The hotel that town officials say is expecting Central New York’s first busload of migrants began pushing out its long-term residents last week.

The Candlewood Suites in Salina had rented about 80 of its 124 rooms to long-term guests, according to several residents. There are families with small children, medical workers, Amazon workers who don’t make enough for an apartment and transportation, and disabled veterans.

Some have only lived there a month; others have been there for more than two years.

Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard spoke with more than a dozen of the residents. They said they had not been told they were being pushed out because of the migrants. Some were told it was because of renovations, which had been ongoing at the hotel for a few months. Others were given no reason at all. And some said they have not been told they have to leave.

They are trying to be coy about the reason they are kicking people out.

All of the residents said they paid their own bills; none were placed there by Onondaga County’s Department of Social Services.

I'm sure the aliens are going to get the rooms for free.
