Some residents of the Candlewood Suites in Salina have been there for years.

This. The reason they’d kick out other guests is because the government is paying a premium for the rooms.

Same shit happens in Germany. The evangelical church turned a retirement home into an asylum center because the government pays more for migrants than they get for seniors.
