Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'TheImp was right again.'
The reason the men were not involved in planning dinner is because they have no skin in the game of keeping up appearances that the women are playing. They would say all they felt the need to say in 10 seconds or less, and then the women would rattle back and forth for a fucking hour just to decide who is doing the chicken and who is doing the potatoes.
...And this is before I even mention the stupidity of (trying to) publicly shame the men of your family to all of your friends.
LOL @ the reasons the men aren't present. One of them is literally miles and miles from home, working to keep a roof over her head, and the other is in crutches due to an injury probably to with either work or old age, or both.
