America has a lot of ghost towns right? Why not set up a scheme where vets get to live in these places and ownership if they fix up the place. That way you are bringing a lot of these towns back into the economy and vets get a place to live and kept busy to help with their issues.
Would be a nice thing to do really. I always felt that my personal issues were not something I would think of when I keep my hands busy. I just don't know about general things like food etc, how would that work?
Basic Commissary would do the trick there.
People who have the wherewithal and reliability to homestead are not homeless.
This is more an idea with vets than the homeless in blue cities mostly, just like it as an idea that revitalises run down towns and essentially turning them into a veteran community than the current state of affairs.
This. As I said in a comment below, alot of homeless people want to be homeless. They want to be free of responsibility and be able to drink/do drugs. The homeless vets who worked or went through the programs earnestly didn't stay homeless for long.
