This is hilarious. I always open uber & lyft and go with whoever is cheaper.
Uber denied it, and the evidence is shitty.
The 12% phone might have gone through slightly after and gotten a slightly higher price because it was higher demand thanks to someone else going 1st.
Yea this sounds like utter bullshit. Their "study" consists of a single test with two phones and they drove up demand by requesting the same route twice.
Also, less than 6% is hardly a "significant" difference.
Would that happen? That sounds like a bug.
From Uber's response:
They requested the first ride which means demand went up and available drivers went down, which in turn affected the price of the second ride.
Oh for some reason I was assuming they cancelled the first one.
Who knows. Their article is really light on details. Even if they did I'd assume Uber would recognize increased activity in that area.
According to their article they did one test. That's it. There's nothing scientific about what they did. They were just fucking around for 5 minutes and thought that was good enough for a ragebait article.
My ride went from 8.53 to 18.53 because the app glitched. I can believe this bullshit is happening.
I've heard if you use iPhone it charges higher prices than Android.
Which is allowed. And it's probably because of 2 things. 1: Apple charges more than Google for in-app purchases. 2: people who will pay extra for an off-white case and a lowercase i will spend more on anything.
And 3. IPhone users have lower IQs or are female but I repeat myself.
it's not off white; it's rose gold
You gotta hand it to them for creativity.
