Shit, in WoW you could just pepper in random "<3"s in the chat like three times through a dungeon run and feel the mood change in your favor. Without even a lie spoken.
Or RuneScape. The sheer amount of "buying gf plox" messages in chat was staggering. You could make a decent amount of money and then just change your character back to male and lol at the idiot.
I remember playing as a female avatar in UO and the amount of "my lady"'s I get was staggering. I would get free shit and random help in dungeons (was tamer bard for grinding) And one time this guy asked me if I wanted to be his rp gf after one brief conversation. I outright told him I'm a guy, and he says that's fine, just rp as a girl.
It still works, unfortunately. Just saying you're a girl immediately attracts the simps. Some games have more simps than others though. Like saying you're a girl on CoD is probably just going to get you thrashed. "WTF IS A CHICK DOING ON OUR TEAM. WE"RE GONNA LOSE NOW. GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN." But saying you're a girl on some spinoff WoW MMORPG... yeah, you can get some free shit prolly.

You'd be surprised. Not so much now, since voice chat in public lobbies is nowhere near as common as it was, but people used to act out if they heard a female voice. I've seen some desperate attempts to get a girl's attention. There were some "kitchen" jokes, but I saw the opposite more often than not. That was up through the Advanced Warfare era.
My girlfriend was pulling this over twenty years ago. Someone once gave her a million zeny in iRO just because she made a Dancer. Those pixelated tits made her more money in an instant than I ever did during my entire time playing. In retrospect, it would have been an excellent life lesson if I was old enough to make the connection.
No one ever gave me free loot in MMORPGs because I'm not a girl but I got over it.
Funny enough that used to be a pretty good strat in Eve Online. Get a girl to get on the mic with you and you could rob highsec corps blind.

That was in the 90's, some things never change.
I bet this doesn't work nearly as well in a world where a significant number of the people identifying as female in games are troons.
