It's a useful thing to get more people of color and women interested in science.

Absolutely fucking not, more women in anything = it becomes worse.

It's a useful thing to get people interested in science sure, but not to target minorities, if one of them happen to be interested, fair enough, but they throughout history have proven that they do not have a natural inclination for exploration and innovation, only white and asian men are capable of making an advanced civilization.
