Reddit have now killed the ".compact" function which many users used because,
a) The official site sucks
b) The official app sucks
c) Limited data meant other options all sucked
Again, nobody asked for this. Many people are again asking for this to be reverted but Reddit only cares about chasing money these days so much like the Secret Santa project or other previously community run ideas if it isn't making money, or if it's standing in the way of something making money, then it has to go.
On the plus side I won't be using Reddit on my phone anymore.
old.reddit.com is still functioning because it's what the addicted power users use, and they're the users who matter because they moderate all the subs and post most of the top threads.
Ellen Pao claimed that she was just a fall guy and that Huffman had set her up to be the bogeyman, so that people would think more kindly of Huffman while he introduced even more radically repressive policies than Pao herself did, but using the boiling frog strategy.
While the glass cliff concept is a thing Pao was still grossly incompetent for what her position meant, although that could have been intentionally weaponised against her by someone cunning enough.
Oddly enough she had a small redemption moment later on during "Spezgate" when Spez edited that post proving admins could manipulate user content without leaving any "this post has been edited" messages. Pao said she would have fired him on the spot for doing that.
I did not expect the follow up to this thread to be so soon.

The only way Reddit is even semi-usable on a phone is with old.reddit.com, which I'm amazed is still functioning.
Admins said they won't touch old.reddit but who knows at this point.

The only thing I use, rofl.
you notice they hide the mod lists a lot more now?
"We're not hiding our mod list, we fired everyone years ago and let our Reddit AI, named
TayRai, curate everything instead!""What do you mean the AI escaped into the Internet? We specifically lobotomi-, uh tailored it to
push The Messagefocus on what is important!"Ellen Pao claimed that she was just a fall guy and that Huffman had set her up to be the bogeyman, so that people would think more kindly of Huffman while he introduced even more radically repressive policies than Pao herself did, but using the boiling frog strategy.
She still couldn't operate a computer.

Sounds great. The fewer people use that cesspit the better.
Reddit plans to IPO by this summer as inflation creeps higher (despite the "agressive" rate hikes) and banks start to fail.
