Remember that this entire thing kicked off becaus Chuck Wendig, the guy so awful Disney fired him for his political rants, had a hissy fit that the site was helping people "pirate" his books (that nobody was buying to begin with, because they are wibbly-wobbly terrible), and his publisher started this lawsuit from there.
He backtracked on it immediately, because he was getting absolutely buried by everyone (and still is), but without his whining its possible this never would have gotten off the ground.
sucks but IA went woke and censors. they made this bed.
It's the same type of people that burnt the library pushing this now.
Make it obvious the publishers no longer control publishing. In fact, sue the companies for monopoly. Watch them prove they're useless, then sue them for false statements in the first court case.
I hate the idea of losing the Internet Archive but I do like the idea of wormy communist shitheads who work there and agree with Chuck Wendig on 99% of issues suffering because of him.
The Internet is to the printing publishers what the car was to the horse and cart industry. They are not going to allow the same thing to happen to them which is why they will use every legal avenue to either control the Internet or destroy it. Forget about your view of the Internet Archive in a political sense, this affects Archive Today and potentially every single web page on the Internet depending on the courts interpretation and the prosecution's argument of what they deem to be a digital printed work if they can convince that it goes beyond eBooks but to individual web pages too.
The best thing print media can do for us is die!
Yeah, fuck unalterable hard copies!...wait
