Yea I’ve come to that conclusion. Female wrestling there is amazing. So Japan was doing the high flying stuff even before Mexico?
I'm fairly sure Mexico was doing it first, though the likes of Jushin Thunder Liger (inventor of the Shooting Star Press) certainly innovated.
I still can't believe his gimmick was solely to promote a then-currently-airing anime, yet wound up having a 35-year career and becoming one of the greatest to ever set foot in the ring. And made Go Nagai more money than he ever did in 50+ years of drawing manga, since half of Liger's merch royalties go to him.
Are there any anime about pro wrestling? Also did you like ECW?
I didn't start watching pro wrestling regularly until 2006, so I didn't get a chance to see the original ECW when it was new. The WWE version sucked.
And unless you count Baki the Grappler, no, no good ones.
Oh ok. My first wrestling memory is from age 4 when Mr T and Hogan were doing an interview for the first mania and been watching ever since. I love the WWE network for all the libraries they have. You should check out some of the old stuff when you have time.
