I’m glad someone is calling out that stupid trend of saying “they need to season their food” saw a reaction vid the other day of guy getting upset at a bbq video where he coated the meat in mustard to use a binding agent for his rub. The mustard is evaporated during cooking while the rub stays on. The guy reacting went on about white people and seasoning yada yada. The man himself having no clue the guy was a pretty big bbq channel.
I've never been into BBQ but once I actually started one of the first things I found out while reviewing recipes was that you need to use mustard to bind the rub.
It also depends on the kind of bbq but I believe the video was doing Texas style.
