I'm really only surprised she looks like from a circa 1994 CD-ROM game cutscene

What TMNT fans are loving it? At the risk of being called a gatekeeper I don’t believe they are real fans and are Twitter weirdos who are unaware the April O’Neill was originally black story has been thoroughly debunked.
Gatekeep away my friend. If the last decade has taught me anything it's that you mustn't let innocent looking people with covertly shitty intentions into your spaces. Use any way to filter them out or given enough time it will be you looking on from the outside in, and you best bet they will be the ones gatekeeping you.
That is absolutely correct. If only we had gate kept when nerdy things started to be trendy
Only NPCs and the type that need to be "gatekept" still try to act like gatekeeping is a bad thing. Please do it, it's the only way to prevent things from being overtaken by grifters and dumbed down into homogeneous slop.
The people who complain about gatekeeping are the ones the gate is there to defend against, as they say.
Also if you give up the gate, you can rest assured that they'll furiously gatekeep you out once they've taken over.
Media and entertainment needs gatekeepers to keep the genres pure. Like unvaxed blood.
One of my biggest annoyances are the people who never cared about an IP until it became trendy and then they became experts via Wikipedia
"Fans" on social media that won't be watching it.
True.
