I'm fairly certain most Japanese people aren't aware just how hostile gaming journalists are to their supposed audience. They don't often get to hear directly from players saying not to inject woke shit because it gets filtered out by their woke western branches when relaying feedback, so I think a lot of them assume gaming journalists are representative of gamer's desires, at least in the west.
its not as if Japanese fans are happy with the wokeness either. There have been complaints from japanese fans about how much blacks the pokemon games are adding to their games now compared to the old games and how the pokemon anime is replacing ash with a light skin girl and dark skin guy. And there's also the whole using a black girl to light the olympic torch instead of an actual Japanese. So its not as if the corporations dont hear any anti woke voice at all.

You are correct, but Naoki Yoshida has already expressed himself to be relatively progressive as far as Japanese people go. He has expressed sympathy for trannies at least once in the past when talking about removing gender restrictions from some armor in FF14. Because of this, I expect on some level he is vulnerable to appeals to emotion by gaming journalists demanding more woke shit in games. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid and he continues to just try making good games instead of appealing to certain demographics.
