Seize all Chinese-owned US land while we're at it, auction it back to Americans, and give the proceeds to something wholesome like veteran services.
We could do that in a war, but it wouldn't be legal or possible now. We could ban chinese ownership of American assets, and put an additional tax on them, which would force them to sell and lose money.
We should also ban all chinese companies from being listed on American stock exchanges & ban American ownership of Chinese companies and assets.
"Veterans" get too much money as it is, most of which goes into the pockets of bureaucrats. This harms American military readiness by making US military personnel artificially expensive.

I'm aware there's a bunch of issues, I just wanted something for an example that is, in theory, non-objectionable, as the idea of the government hanging on to money from selling seized property from previously legal contracts is...well, I'm not a fan. But I suppose asking the government to responsibly distribute money is even more unreasonable than asking them to take on China.
Your idea is better, just make it unprofitable and detrimental for certain foreign entities to hold US land, encouraging them to sell on the (allegedly) open market.
