I attended private schools when I was a kid, but I used to do sports at public schools and frequently observed that the massive campuses surrounded by razor wire fences were very reminiscent of prisons. This was 20+ years ago.
School shootings never surprised me after seeing that. Maybe things are worse now, but that doesn't mean in the recent past they were good.
And these numbers are like inflation -- cumulative. Hopelessness didn't go down for boys in 2021, it just didn't go up as much as it did in 2019.
Have to wonder why the data is presented this way. Almost like it's intentionally misleading.
