No joke, I had someone describe people doing their own research on covid was problematic and my sarcastic reply that all scientific journals should be published in latin so that the peasants can't make their own interpretations was bewildering to them, but not effective.

I've also found that if someone tries to say that they've moved past their former behavior, usually a particularly vocal social zealot getting it brought up, always interject "so it's like you've been born again?"
