I have two young girls in my extended family (10 & 7), and I have been gifting / recommending older content (The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Road to Avonlea, and the likes) to them to keep away the worst of modern entertainment.
It seems though that all of their class mates have been watching Wednesday, and the FOMO is powerful with them, so now they want to watch it too.
They would be better off watching the two 90s movies, but even that might be too early at this age.
Anybody who has seen the show, how strongly would you recommend against it? Not just in general (might be too scary for them), but because of the current year bullshit.
Treating the symptom is not as effective as treating the problem. And the problem is FOMO.
Gotta work with their parents to instill an idea that their personal tastes are more important than the group's tastes. But they're girls and wired for social acceptance, so it's not only going to be difficult, but at their ages, probably all but impossible now.
That has been a talking point of their dad, who is pretty based, but frankly, with what I see of them it might be impossible with girls in general.
Thanks, some of the stuff in it is too early, I would say.
It does have the odd one or two socjus quips in the early episodes, even though its shitflix it isn't a bad series.
Good easy watch, not sure if its suitable for kids of that age though. So i'd recommend following the other comment which has the parents guide in

It's Netflix, she's probably a man-hating lesbian.
You probably have to suffer through it yourself to find out.
That is one of the reasons why I have asked, hoping that some people here have watched it, and can give an opinion it. I would rather not watch it myself.
Check out knights watch, I think they did a review on it. They are very mindful of things that are inappropriate for children usually.
Thanks, sounds less and less like something any kid should be subjected to.
It's full of woke shit I've heard, and also very bad writing. I'd suggest taking time to explain them what is popular is not necessarily good and try to make them understand they're not gonna miss much by not watching it. When everyone forgets about this show next month you can remind them and they'll trust you next time.
That is a point both their dad and I have been making repeatedly over the years, but FOMO is strong with kids, especially girls.
"Remember how you insisted on watching that show because it was so good everyone was talking about it? No one is talking about it now." Just say this in a month
There is a kid, who has two moms who are briefly shown.
Wednesday makes a few comments throughout about the terrible pilgrims who came to America and whitewashed everything.
It's not really that scary, but it shows some gore.
It mostly just depends if you can tolerate some of the minor wokeness sprinkled in it. As far as Netflix goes, the wokeness isn't actually that bad.
The gore part is the one that makes me want to recommend against it, for a few more years at least.
Letting under-14s watch TV of any kind should be punishable by imprisonment.
Thank you for your opinion.
Agreed, but it is difficult to pull off as they are kids, and girls too, so they want to conform in everything.
They do not have phones or a computer in their room. The only PC they have any access to is in front of everyone, and they don't get to do whatever they want on it either.
