Americans do not care about anyone outside America unless the media tells them to care.
I remember telling people about the war in Somalia several years back that involved the US military and people were utterly baffled by what I was talking about, probably because the American press was not covering it at all. I had to follow the BBC for news updates.
They lost a whole lot of interest in the area once they started uncovering mummies with red hair and tomb paintings depicting people with blue eyes.
It was conquered by the enemy in 1453. Why should we care about people who want to wipe us out?
