I can't understand the audience reaction to this show. You look on IMDb and it's all 9/10, 10/10, best show evaaaaaaarr.
Whether you enjoyed the game or not, this is one decidedly average TV show.
Also, I can almost tolerate El Spico as Joel (almost) but they couldn't have picked even just a normal looking human female to play Ellie? They really had to go with whatever the fuck Bella (a very ironic name, considering) Ramsey is?
Not to be nasty, but the game had you want to protect Ellie, not drown her in a river to put her out of everyone's misery.
Rose tinted glasses. I got that from Star Wars(not anymore though). Something mediocre came out? Amazing... Having been whipped already makes anything look good. Same is probably for TLOU fans who got a kick in the groin from part 2.
That makes sense from the gamer's perspective, but there's a significant number of reviews from people who claim to have never played either game.
Is this the only show they've ever watched and it's amazing to them? Do they just think everything's amazing? Does Pedro Pascal have that big a fanbase?
Plenty of other recent shows got positive review bombed (fake reviews). It's become quite common. Its one of the reasons why I stopped using Amazon to do research on stuff, because it curates search results to prioritize Chinesium shit, and lots of the reviews are clearly fake. Companies stand to win or lose lots of money by manipulating reviews. With how corrupt everything has become, why wouldnt they lie about that?
In general the bar has been lowered so much that a mediocre show at best gets great reviews. I wouldn't know any other answer except what ApexVeritas has said. I still believe it's partially because of the lowered bar. I know people who like it and those people are far less critical than I am.
This is the end of my watching this show. I thought ep 1 and 2 were fucking boring but they were 'building'. Now they've wasted an entire episode to showcase bearded man on man love rather than what should've been something interesting happening on the way to the compound and Joel or Ellie just finding the note.
We don't need an emotional connection to characters that have no impact on the story, haven't appeared before this episode and clearly won't appear again, just so they can be stunning and brave. There was no service to the overall plot except for their truck.

I don't know about that. Granted I only watched videos of the game, but she always acted like an insufferable little bitch. It's why I never bothered to play it. If they gave you an option to drown her in a river maybe I would have. In real life I'd have told her to watch her language and smacked her in the face if she gave me any lip.

Its all so tiresome.

At least vidya Ellie wasn't ugly though.
Yeah. Her face looks like a chewed caramel.
Tough to look at and take seriously.
Look at what else has been released. When everything new is shit, and along comes this relatively average one it looks like a diamond in comparison
