Don't forget Glass.
Think about all the plastic waste that wouldn't exist if we had glass bottles instead of plastic.
But then again that would hurt the bottom line even though it's better in the long run.
The problem with glass bottles is that they're heavy as hell, which means you need more fuel to transport them, and you might even need more trucks if you exceed weight limits. Anyone who really wants to do something positive needs to, first of all, stop drinking sugary swill that comes in plastic bottles and drink tap water (or tea or something) instead. Get a filter if your water sucks.
I will take a pause from my bug-job when the master says it
I will go and eat in the allotted place at the allotted time
I will choose one allotted vividly colored sugar-covered food package from the square metal box like a human-insect
I will consoom it
and I will be happy
Recycling glass is easy but energy intensive. Without cheap energy, it's a no go.
If only we had a cheap near limitless source of energy, like say nuclear. Too bad that's too scary.
yes but consumer level recycling efforts end up being almost entirely plastic.
"We have to do it for the kids! For the next generation!"
Said by a woman who voted herself literally penny the greatest period of wealth in this country afforded, saddling every infant born in the US today with nearly half a million in liability for social security (old people welfare), medicare (old people welfare), and federal debt (money already spent on old people).
Recycling is a useful tool but not the be all, end all that environmentalists want to portray it as. On earth it's not as effective but for space it will be heavily required so needs to be developed more
And to be frank, the biggest focus should be power supply as in we should be using nuclear a LOT more and just ensure proper waste management so that we don't pollute third world environments with 'Recycling rejects'.
