Video games are a product meant to make the consumer happy in exchange for money. If your developer engages in the following exchange:
Consumer: I don't like X, I would prefer Y
Developer: fuck you and fuck your preferences, you are wrong and your opinions are invalid, now allow me to lecture you on how YOUR preferences do not fit with MY vision and politics!
Consumer: nah, it's okay, I just won't play your shitty game, then. never forget who you work for, cunt.
Then that developer deserves to fail. Simple as.
This happens to me all the time with games which fuck with saving the game to block "save scumming" aka "actually wanting convenient saves and being able to roll back when bad shit happens that you didn't want to happen". Some idiots who are wrong, think that having the ability to save the game is somehow bad, because it lowers the stakes and gives the player too much power. This is idiotic. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as. Don't deny ME the ability to play the game the way I want to play it because you can't control yourself. That's like banning all alcohol in society because YOU are an alcoholic who can't control yourself. You're imposing on me and violating my freedoms and forcing me to play the game YOUR way. Fuck you and fuck that. If a product wants to fight me and annoy me instead of serving me, I just won't buy it.

You’re like a bad idea machine lol
Git gud, pussy
To expand: it is actually the developers’ responsibility to craft and balance their video games - not mine.
I agree with him for the vast majority of games. Yes not all games need save states. If the game is designed around a specific save system, that can often work better. For example I like the stress of saving in Alien Isolation. Most devs idea of "balance" is just "This is it too easy, here's an artificial constraint." In other cases, you can tell that the "design" is an iteration on an older concept that got popular so they simply retain without much thought. Sort of like how console games kept aspects from arcade games for a long time even though they were no longer in the arcade.
Anyway QuickSave/QuickLoad is my jam and my idea of fun games will revolve around those that include it. If you prefer slogging it to a save point that's ok too.

You didn't tackled his point though. How is his save scumming affecting you?

Takes no skill to keep reloading until 1% is as good as 100%
