nah, if the democrats tried that shit, they'd get lynched.

you guys seem to forget that even though we are the minority, there are more conservatives in California than any other state.

nobody lynched them for murdering millions of babies...

mostly black and poor babies so nobody cares.

nobody lynched them for trooning out your kids.

so far they've only been trooning their own kids as a general rule.

i think they'll get away with banning cars just fine.

lol nope.

What do you mean, if they tried that? They've already done it.

No more gas cars sold by 2035

And before you say it, yes I know it says you can keep using your existing gas car. Until, of course, that breaks down. And you can't buy a new one (cause it's banned), and you can't get a used one because the used market is dried up worse than it was after Cash4Clunkers. Or gas stations start shutting down due to decreased numbers of gas cars meaning they can't stay in business. 2038-2040 it will probably be impossible to maintain a gas vehicle in CA (or in NY, which passed a similar law. Or other places which have or will pass similar laws).

It was only back in September, that California was urging people to stop charging their cars. Yes, it was limited, and yes it was a recommendation not a direct ban on charging, but anyone who has paid attention to anything has seen how quickly recommendations turn into orders.

Oh, and people are already working on tech to suck the energy out of EVs to put it back into the grid when things get stressed. Which from a technical point of view is kind of cool, I admit, but in practice runs into huge issues, namely when you want to drive somewhere only to find that the state or power company has drained your battery to power something else.

So, when is this massive revolt coming?

They've already done it. No more gas cars sold by 2035

dude learn your tenses. 2035 is not "already done it".

Californians will rise up in revolt if you fuck with our cars. just watch.

dude, learn to read the laws on the books.

The revolt you're predicting did not come when the law was passed. So when it is going to come?

In 2026 when the law requires 35% of new car sales to be electric or plug-in hybrid?

In 2028 when the law mandates that less than 50% of new sales can be gas powered?

In 2035 when it's illegal to buy a new gas powered car?

Or never? What is the cutoff for "fucking with your cars"?

Your cars are in the pot and the water's already starting to boil.

dude, learn to read the laws on the books.

there are no "laws" this was a "rule" from some agency that has no real enforcement mechanism.

CA new car sales in 2022 Electrics & Hybrids = 30.6%.

All the regulators did was look at current trends and tried to jump out in front of the trend to take advantage of it and claim it was their doing instead of normal capitalist market forces.

It's a sham, it's politics. If 2026 comes and electric sales plummet and the manufacturers aren't going to naturally meet the targets on their own without significantly warping the market, the rule will go poof.

If conservatives had the guts to physically fight for their rights, would we be where we are now?
