Well yeah, that's why the idea of an "alt right" popped up. Not the Spencer forced version, but masses of people who called themselves such without even knowing he existed.
The GOP has decades of being controlled opposition at their best, and actively also Left at worst.
I keep mentioning that the Reagan amnesty was in the 80s, and no one has a convincing argument why "*this time the GOP will be useful."
Reagan either got played hard by the progs, or was in on giving the progs an out on that whole amnesty deal.
He didn't get played. If he did, the GOP would have felt betrayed and did something about it. They wanted it. They just didn't want blame.
Which is what I suspect as well, writing the amnesty bill as it was, gave the GOP an out to say "We tried! Vote for us again harder!", while getting what they want or are apathetic to.
We need elected officials that actually put the needs of the citizens and the country first.
But the chances of that happening are slimmer than the chance that I will win the lottery.
Yeah, even if you give the more lenient interpretation of things like that, such as "this was him compromising with the Left naively thinking it would put the issue to rest," its still a problem. The GOP should not be compromising or even cooperating with the Left in any form and any time they do so we are losing for it.
There is one party, because they all have the same puppeteer.
