The race swap is obnoxious (especially since she's sporting one of those hairstyles to further scream "LOOK AT MY BLACKNESS!"), but what I find really ridiculous here is how they're casting an 18-year-old to play a character who was supposed to be a child, aged 12 at most. Sorry, but seeing a teen with an obnoxious resting bitch face like that die is not going to have anywhere near the same impact. Unless of course...the idea is that she's not actually going to die in this adaptation? It's pretty suspicious how they're advertising the casting for a glorified extra, and Hollywood frowns on anything bad happening to pee-oh-sees.
On another topic, does anyone else find it funny how the photographs of the actors playing Joel and Ellie look so fake and soulless, like they're just phoning it in, while the promotional arts and renders for the original game look more emotional?
Other than the appeal to coomer incest/FD fetish of course
Typically they do this because the regulations around performance for children are far far more strict than for an adult. You actually see this quite often, get a young enough looking adult and you get the performance you want without having to go through a bunch of extra red tape around "muh safety". Especially if they are a teenager, Have the kid be played by an adult or just make them an adult to be tidier
Inb4 she has her own diverse tlou spinoff show
Naturally, I say this hoping you don't bring up cuties or balenciaga which prove these rules don't actually matter that much anymore
She's not really going to die and then come back for righteousness vengeance against Joel for abandoning her.
If she doesn't die then it's easy to call it non-cannon, like the second game
Because cannon isn't decided by the companies or media, its the audience. We can say this isn't cannon, the Disney Star Wars isn't cannon and that one messed up doujin, JoJo ending IS cannon!
An odd reference, but a welcome one.
Or she will show up later "surprise I'm not dead you evil huwhyte mayal!"
