They've had gay month events for years. The non-cucked players would dress up all in white robes during it and spam slogans like "We pay, no gay" but have had no effect, with the counter-protests growing smaller every year, now there's this load of shite.
Fuck jagex and that entire team. If you need to get your nostalgia fix in, play 2009scape, totally open-source and free.
its a shame, OSRS had so much good content and qol stuff, idk why they had to take such a hard turn into this woke shit when its not like there was any pressure on them.
There's actually only been two gay pride events, the one that got a furfag to RQ the team in 2017, and then this latest one where they just covered their heads to try to ignore the protests. But it seems "Cover your eyes and just ignore the players" is the way things are going forwards.
Make DEI departments illegal
OSRS shows the folly of asking for classic version of MMOs. You end up getting bored because the developers never change anything or you end up watching your favorite game turn into a bastardized parody of itself.
If the OSRS team want to add new stupid shit like fag flags, whatever. I can ignore that. Hell, I'm sure someone can write a Runelite plugin to hide players wearing the dumbass rainbow items. But changing parts of the game decades after the fact is just taking the piss. The entire appeal of the game is that it's a legacy version of an MMO. Trying to "update it for modern sensibilities" goes against the entire idea of an Old School MMO version.
That said, not shocked this is being pushed though not even a week after the OS Team has stated they're going to be polling less content going forward. If this is what they're going to when given the option, than you're better off just ditching the game. But hey, at least the "inclusion" gives us more women to kill. Thanks, HamJacks!
I liked some of the new stuff like Kourend, new quests/bosses, and more efficient ways to train skills. Now that they've peaked creatively, its time for them to chase the phantom "modern audience", but Metokur said it best in his OSRS video that the majority of the community is veteran players since kids today would rather just play Fortnite, so if you alienate the veterans then you have nobody just like when they forced in EoC back in 2012.
Yeah, OSRS is really just a way for manchildren to try and relive the best years of their life because they're too fucking poor to afford a yellow Corvette.
I mean i play it with old friends here and there, I don't think most people have sixty grand to blow on a car lmao
Speaking as someone who could comfortably go and blow sixty grand cash on a car, I'd rather dick around in an old MMO for the lulz.
same thing happened with the pride event back in 2017, the community backlashed against it and their voices were silenced via bannings and subreddit mods being corrupt
I thought the whole point of OSRS was that any changes had to get voted on and approved by the playerbase? Guess that doesn't apply when Modern Sensibilities come into play
god that fucking tranny in the comments. "i deserve to feel safe!"
no, you deserve people spamming you with trades for rope.
OSRS was going strong until about a year or two ago. Since about 2019 they've released two updates for skills, one update for combat, a quest where everyone is called "They" and it's impossible to follow dialoue, and gay pride shit.
Its more symbolic changes than quality ones, but like someone above mentioned, it defeats the appeal of a legacy server by retroactively changing it for the politics of the current time. When I first played OSRS back in 2013, it felt like the ending of Back To The Future where the better timeline overrides the depressing old one.
They also set a bad precedent by saying more changed will come, my guess is the "male and female" options in the character creation will be gone.
"You can choose between Form Square and Form Circle"
"Can we see Form Circle topless?"
"No that's objectifying to women!"
