I expected Republicans to win competitive governorships, the House easily and be favored to win the Senate.
First we actually lost nearly every fucking single competitive governor race.
I am stunned that we lost all of these so called competitive governor races: Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kansas, New Mexico, Maine, Oregon.
I thank God that we somehow won governorships in Iowa, Ohio, Texas, Georgia and did amazing in the Florida governor race.
Kari Lake might even lose. I am livid. How the fuck does this happen?
We lost congressional house districts today in places that I never thought we would lose this year. We lost tossup congress races in fucking Ohio.
The Senate is a nightmare. Oz lost to Fetterman without the Dems even stopping the count and flooding it with mail in ballots.
Dems likely going to keep the Senate
We barely flip the House at this rate. I swear if we somehow fail to flip the House.
Today was worse than 2020.
I thank God that in my state, Texas, Republicans atleast won every statewide race.
Ronna McDaniel, Rick Scott, Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump all fucked up massively with messaging, candidate selection and cohesion.
The impact of the repeal of Roe v Wade, 1/6, Trump's shitty primary picks and woke college educated whites turning out massively harmed us so much.
Abortion fucked Republicans so hard in competitive races.
So many people here will be mad at me for saying this but I wish Roe was not overruled.
I am personally vehemently against the murder of the unborn but if allowing abortions in the first 15 weeks with exemptions for rape/incest allows us to prevent Dem one party rule, we would be fools to not do so.
It is truly a shame what is happening to the unborn but everyone alive right now in America will be completely fucked forever if Republicans don't adjust their abortion positions to be less hardline.
J6 didn't harm all of the candidates but candidates present on J6 like Mastriano received additional hits to their reputation.
Mastriano actually turned out to be the worst governor candidate in the nation based on how much he underperformed a generic Republican like Pat Toomey or hell how much he underperformed Trump.
Election integrity remains a serious problem in the rust belt states. The fucking Dems actually won every single governorship in the rust belt.
My head is still spinning from what happened today.
I'm glad they overturned Roe but man did that hit us in this election. I also feel like we got played by McConnell, he starting saying that he wants to ban abortion at a federal level, this was a gift for the left. Why in the world would he do that?
there doesn't exist a stronger argument against democracy, and the destructive nature of participating in it at all
This, by the beard of Saint Nicholas and the hair of Saint Gianna. The left passed Obamacare, got it upheld by Roberts, and got progressively massacred (downballot at least) from 2010 to 2016 but stayed the course. Gay marriage was so unpopular that even fucking California voted against it back in the day, then the left used the courts to impose it there and eventually across the nation. The right gets what so many of them have supposedly wanted for 50 years from SCOTUS for a change, and then bitches because it might've impacted a single election cycle? Give me a break.
Roe v. Wade stood on such shaky (or outright nonexistent) constitutional ground that it should've been struck down for that alone, as even the uber-leftist Ginsburg once agreed. If not this year, then when - next year or 2024, when it could've been used by the left to attack the Republicans in a presidential election year? Gotta bite the bullet at some point, and the lives of the unborn matter more than a midterm election.
The lives of the unborn matter more than the lives of everyone right now who is living?
We are on the cusp of a permanent Dem one party state and we will still have retards like you thinking that pushing hardline abortion bans even in swing states is worth damning everyone who is currently alive to Democrat federal rule.
If the Democrats get a large enough federal margin they will codify Roe; pack the Supreme Court and make abortion allowable till the moment of birth in every fucking state.
Some of you pro life activist types are missing the bigger picture.
I am pro-life and think abortion is sick but I am not retarded enough to think letting Dems have a one party state is worth sticking with the hardline abortion ban position.
Even when the Democrats lost down ballot the Republicans didn't do anything to punish Dems because Dems have all of the major institutions.
The Democrats will not treat us the same, they will make our lives hell.
Nah, I've been hearing this 'we need to put off anything resembling an actual move on the abortion issue because muh electoral politics' line ever since I became politically aware, and older pro-lifers have been hearing it since the 70s. That nonsense can fuck right off, and anyone who buys into it (like you) is the real retard playing into an increasingly blatantly rigged game. If you have to throw away your principles and become a soulless uniparty hack forever trying to string your constituents along, then your '''''victory''''' is a hollow one at best.
If the Democrats get a big enough margin they'll finally dispel the fiction of a functioning democracy once and for all? Fucking fantastic I say, the sooner it becomes obvious to the masses that electoralism is as rigged and unwinnable a game as optics, the better. And I hope they get the chance right alongside the depression they're working so frantically to bring about as well, to maximize the chance of blowback and total system failure.
Nothing short of the discrediting and collapse of all current institutions and the poisonous belief system undergirding them is going to open the door to fixing civilization in our lifetimes. At this point, still trying to uphold the same system and play by its rules is complete fucking idiocy.
I'm not mad at you, but I do disagree. Roe was garbage and had to go, though I am pro-choice. The problem is that some of the Republicans ran roughshod with all sorts of crazy bans.
Even from their own POV, it would be much better to not alarm people when Roe is overturned, and to start very slowly.
I think for M it may have added an aura of extremism, when in reality Shapiro was the real extremist.
For me, it's tomorrow. Yes, it is disappointing, but don't lose heart. It may have silver lining yet. This may be a warning show for Republicans to not push things too far on abortion, and to Trump to not kid around with the candidates that he backs. Imagine if this lesson had only come in 2024.
Overturning Roe is the type of policy change that pro-lifers want their votes to accomplish. Don't forget that the goal of winning elections isn't just to win them but to implements changes. Pro-lifers got what they wanted, even if it costs them future elections.
And anyone who supports rule of law.
If I were pro-life, and didn't care about the rule of law, I'd have supported the Roberts approach: just chip away at it and boil the frog. That way you avoid a backlash.
Okay faggot. Go vote dem then. Might as well support them in everything if you're willing to support the continued genocided of unborn children
I am sick of these retarded purity tests.
I am pro life and I think abortion is sick.
The disgusting reality is that we will have a Democrat one party state in America if we keep pushing full abortion bans even in all of the swing states.
A 15 week abortion ban with exceptions for life of the mother, rape and incest is likely the best the pro-life movement can achieve at the moment.
If the Dems get a large enough federal majority they can still codify Roe and nationalize abortion to be unlimited without restrictions until moment of birth.
That is what is going to happen if you keep pushing these bans in swing states.
