As we get closer to Christmas it always gives me a chuckle to see the usual articles that bashed Hallmark movies for being too white, too straight, or "promoting the idea of a heteronormative reality" (yes they actually said that in one). Another stupid comment made was one writer complaining that the black people in the movie were too happy. Basically typical screeching over a Christmas movie with happy white people. Since Hallmark has bent the knee to lgbt activists (which I'm sure won't be enough for them) they have set their sights on Great American Family Channel which was started by the former CEO of Hallmark who said that he wanted family friendly faith based movies. I enjoy sappy Christian movies and I've recorded some of their stuff just to support them.
But the larger issue is that the CEO of this channel saw there was an audience of traditional minded Christian women who don't want to see certain things in their movies. Sounds like common sense. Same thing if you had a show that was immensely popular with gays and you decided to cater to that audience (I guess that Rupal Show?).
My biggest issue with a lot of modern entertainment is this notion of listening to people who don't even watch your product. I remember when that whole same sex commercial they took off Hallmark that started the controversy this lesbian activist actually said she doesn't watch the channel but still complained that it lacked diversity.
Imagine how the gaming world would be if at the very beginning a CEO told Anita Sarkessian or Zoe Quinn to go pound sand or if someone at Marvel comics asked these feminist writers what evidence they had that made them think there was a massive untapped market of female comic book readers. The She-Hulk writers seem like the perfect example of people who didn't care about "nerdy things" like a comic book and only cared when nerdy things became trendy then they infested the hobby.
I will say on the bright side the Great American Family Channel seems to be doing very well with the ratings. What a shock. Appeal to the people who actually like your product.
In December we had soapy Christmas movies in the background all the time, my wife loves them and It helps with the Christmas atmosphere but I did hear that they are bending to the LGBTQ+ mafia.
I do hope the American Family Channel picks up all of the target demo and Hallmark can go pound sand.
They seem to be. I support them out of principle. All he is doing is listening to his audience. Nerdrotic said once that everything doesn’t have to include everything. So when people say “everything doesn’t have to have white people” that should apply across the board. Everything doesn’t need black characters, lgbt, Asian, Hispanic, etc just for the sake of diversity
Lmao how the fuck do these people get away with this?
If I was in charge of one of these sites I’d ask what relevance this has to your review. Just like the Far Cry reviews that whined about the game not addressing white supremacy
Black people in this movies, not only are they happy they also get along well with the white character. In fact their race never plays a part in the movies, they hate that. This are the same people that consider being "color blind" as racist.
True
Was unaware of the Great American Family Channel (then again I stopped consuming or paying attention to pretty much most of mainstream media).
I'll definitely keep an eye on it and its content/ratings to see how it fares.
3 is irrelevant to the business. It could be 30 pages if she hulk inserting a tampon if it made money.
That’s true. I if you can actually increase your customer base without sacrificing what you already have
We cancelled our hallmark package last year and added GAC.
We got tired of seeing the typical globohomo shit that hallmark started pushing.
As to your point, why do these companies bow to people who don't even use their product?
It would be like if vegan companies started listening to BBQ blogs and youtubers
Exactly. I like GAC and it’s clear they understand their audience. Also some people from hallmark joined them. Plus they have classic tv shows
Seeing hallmark movies with mostly black casts gave me Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibe. For the longest time, I thought there was a town somewhere in Canada or Iowa where they were breeding the crazy-eyed neon white nutbags that played the supporting cast of these movies. I suppose they bred a darker strain for these new movies, because they're just as fucking creepy as their white counterparts. We're talking Kirk Cameron having a baby with Tom Cruise crazy.
Eh I like the movies. But I enjoy a sappy Christmas movie from time to time. Also like the sappy Christian movies. Granted it’s a predictable plot but it’s good
I like a few of them too. But the problem is Main Woman Character starts to do anything and suddenly some random bitch buts in "You looking for some obviously gay dick?" then stares with unblinking crazy eyes. Because the men in most of these movies are using tampons to keep their butts from whistling.
It's rare to get one like Tricia Helfer. That movie was bad, but damn if watching her act her ass off in it didn't make the painfully gay male lead disappear.
What part of the country are you in? I live in North Texas and still see a lot of people excited for Christmas. Granted I do see more Halloween stuff than I used to
Where I am the Halloween stuff comes out around the time school starts (mid to late August) and the Christmas stuff comes out around a week before Halloween. I haven't noticed the stores getting rid of the stuff before the holiday is over but I haven't paid much attention.
I see Christmas stuff as early as late August. Halloween too. It’s almost like thanksgiving is simply a speed bump on the way to Christmas
