Do you guys think that they may do anything to save the series?
Outside of a completely new story with completely different characters, how in the world can they save ROP?
This is not an episodic series like Star Trek or X-Files , this was suppose to be one story broken down to shorter episodes, after the complete trash that was the first season I just can't see how they could save any of it.
Scene 1, Episode 1 of S2: Galadriel, at that point in the Second Age still a resident of Ost-in-Edhil, wakes up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. Her husband Celeborn and/or their daughter Celebrían ask her what's the matter. "Oh nothing dear, I just had the most terrible nightmare..."
Seriously though, the entire first season is unsalvageable and there's no point trying to build anything atop such a ramshackle '''''foundation'''''. But retooling so hard as to ignore it all and do a second season about a totally different story still won't matter if they don't get rid of the actual source of all their problems, ie. the Cult of Social Justice and its determination to shit all over Tolkien's work as part of a broader offensive against Western civilization in its entirety.
“Everyone said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp.”
No. There was never anything to save. Any understanding of the man behind the original work would lead you to this conclusion. Tolkien would HATE Amazon and the consumerism it embodies. It would be like a zombie Goebbels writing and staging a sequel to Fiddler on the Roof.
They can't "save" this shitshow because it is not LOTR. It's some Progressive Current Year lecture in a Dragon Age Fantasy setting, with a cheap LOTR paint and name tag.
Give a unequivocal apology for mishandling the Tolkein IP, attacking fans, and censoring/manipulating/buying reviews
Ret-con the entire thing ("It was all just a dream...")
Hire a dream team of faithful Tolkein fans and writers to lead the new project, bring on Peter Jackson in an advisory role (but keep him far away from the CGI department)
Ret-con the entire thing ("It was all just a dream...")
Nah, apologize for letting the previous showrunners make it, fire the executives who hired them and supervised, and start over by saying "Tolkien wrote a worthwhile story, one that should be filmed as he wrote it, and now that [new exec/production team] is in charge, they and Amazon are committed to making it a reality."

4th times the charm, because now you have a swamp foundation!

It will never happen though.
